About ET Citi Grand Masters

The ET Citi Grand Masters Championship is a national competition for management students across India, conceptualized and co-created by Economic Times and Citi. It brings together the future thought leaders of India, and evaluates their analytical, contextual, strategic and problem solving skills, that are crucial for surviving the rapidly changing world of business.

The ET Citi Grand Masters program has been initiated by two of India's top power brands, Economic Times, a financial paper that provides analysis on industry and the economy and Citi, India's pre-eminent financial services company. Participation is open to students of Management Institutes across India.

Championship Flow

The ET Citi Grand Masters has been designed to challenge a student’s mental faculties through a series of Business games, simulations & quiz spread over 3 action packed rounds.

STEP 1 - Read terms and conditions

STEP 3 - Announce the team member

All applicants need to announce a team member from their respective B-School in order to participate in the ET Citi Grand Masters 2008-2009.

STEP 4 - Submit case study online

Applicants would be required to solve a multi-faceted case study and submit the synopsis online. Students may select & analyse any ONE of the given two cases and submit it accordingly.

The analysis is to be limited to 2 pages of text - font Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.0. Student can annexurise tables in support of analysis. However, no text will be considered from the annexures.

STEP 5 - Zonal rounds

Participants qualifying for the zonal rounds shall be informed about their status with requisite details. Six teams would be shortlisted to compete in each of the zonal rounds, which would be held across the following cities:

  • Delhi
  • Mumbai
  • Bangalore
  • Kolkatta
  • Ahmedabad

Event Flow for Zonal Round Presentations

Debate

The students will participate in a debate that will be judged by an eminent jury at the event.. The jury will evaluate the students on their thought process, the thoroughness of the analysis and objectivity for the same.

Quiz

The debate would be followed by a Business Quiz, the quiz would last for one and a half hours.The panel of judges will then award points and the highest aggregate total will win.

Bourse Game

The Foreign Exchange market is by now, one of the most heavily traded markets in the world, with the daily volume in excess of US$ One trillion. The bourse game, which is a part of the zonal round, is designed to enable the participants to grasp the foreign exchange and money market instruments. It will also provide students with a first hand experience of market and trading dynamics.

The game involves the introduction of basic concepts and products in the forex and money markets, the relationship between these two markets, utilizing these markets to establish risk positions or to hedge risk positions, measuring and monitoring these risk positions and book keeping & revaluation. It also provides an understanding of trading mechanism of foreign exchange spot, forward, swap and options etc.
