SURVIVAL OF THE WITTEST

Posted on Wednesday, January 14, 2009

It happened in Mumbai. It happened in Ahmedabad. It happened in Kolkata. And now it happens in Delhi. The host takes it all. It’s the end of a fiery battle in Delhi and the results are in. IIT Delhi, the host, scrapes through to the final round to be held in Mumbai on 22nd January, 2009.

Delhi Winners

The day began with each team pulling in their best resources to be at the top, and then it boiled down to the last minute in the quiz. Sujith S & Gyanesh Kumar Sinha (Faculty of Management Studies) were leading before the last question but 5 points away stood Ashish Sharma & Anuj Jalote (Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi) quite composed. And then as the last 10 pointer question was being read out, the IIT Delhi team took a guess, blurted out the answer before the question was completed and it was right. The host team and companions broke out with elated cheer and excitement. They had won. It was sheer presence of mind, wit and luck that got IIT Delhi to still be in the running to win the ET CITI Grand Masters.

The pattern in the host colleges emerging victorious has only one answer. Home ground and peer support in large numbers. So for those participating in the Bangalore zone, take the tip and bring along enormous crowds from your college, as they will cheer you on and keep your spirits high while you strenuously try to be the next hero.

It’s a HIT!!!

What a kickoff!! The second edition of ET Citi Grand Masters kicked off in splendid style in the Mumbai Zonal Round. Six Teams gave their best and battled it out through a grueling series of the bourse game, the debate and the very electrifying management quiz.

Champions Speak

Posted on Monday, November 17, 2008

Last years ET Citi Grand Masters Championship was an exceptional success.

Vijay Anand, one of the winners of IIM Calcutta last year has this to say about the Championship.

“The ET Citi Grand Masters Championship is an excellent platform for B school students across the country to interact and compete with each other. The Championship evaluates the student’s all round capabilities through the case study, presentation and quiz. These three rounds pose a challenge to an individual as they test their every skill. Words of wisdom by eminent personalities supplemented positively to the experience. Lastly, winning the Championship works as an appendage to my C.V.”

image

Arnav Sinha had this to say about the championship:

“ET Citi Grand Masters is very well conceptualized and designed. I particularly found the cross questioning of the judges during the presentation round quite challenging to tackle. To aspiring participants of the Et Citi Grand Masters, I’d say don’t get bogged down by the level of the championship and the size of the prize, embrace it with as much confidence as you would any other competition and I hope luck is on your side. All the Best.”
